A superb late Victorian marquetry inlaid walnut Grandmother clock with weight driven bell striking 8 day movement c.1890. The small proportioned slim case fashioned in the George I style with moulded cornice to the hood, figured walnut veneers and tulip design marquetry inlays to the door and base; chequered stringing to the sides giving a panelled appearance. Engraved brass and silvered dial with complementing spandrels to the corners, engraved dial centre and silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals; original blued steel hands. The weight driven bell striking on the hour 8 day movem...ent with anchor escapement driven by lead weights; fully serviced and working.
