A fine quality mid Victorian solid silver mounted claret jug with grape and vine etched decoration to the crystal base, hallmarked London 1878. Flared base to the crystal vessel with a cut and etched grape and vine design decoration running continuously around the sides, plus glass handle set to the side. The heavy quality deep silver mount set to the top with embossed and engraved grape vine design decoration set in panels to match the vessels decoration. Mask forming the spout with hinged domed lid sat above, lion with a paw on a blank shield forming the handle. Bears the ...makers mark for London silversmiths Edward Parpoint along with clear hallmarks, presented in immaculate condition with deep polish to the silver and a perfect vessel. Measures 6.5" wide including handle x 5.5" diameter at the base x 10.5" high to top of the handle. Stock number 39833.
