A superb quality Victorian solid silver mug with gadrooned decoration and unusual acorn design engraving, by highly regarded silversmiths Walter & John Barnard, hallmarked London 1892. The fine quality mug with straight sides which are rounded at the foot. The lower half of the mug embossed with gadrooned decoration and decorated above with an usual band of individual acorns and stars. A secondary band of embossed rope twist design decoration sat below the rim with acanthus leaf design engraving sat above and below. Cast silver handle set to the side with thumb plate to the top and hear...t shaped terminus; the interior with original gilt lined finish. Bears the makers mark for highly regarded silversmiths Walter & John Barnard whose business lineage stretches back to 1680, along with clear hallmarks. Weighing in at 5.6 troy oz and presented in excellent condition.
