An immaculate and complete late Victorian solid walnut cased games compendium with original contents c.1900. The substantial solid walnut box with tenon joints, hinged opening top and double doors to the front. The lid opening and the front doors swinging back at 180 degrees to reveal a fully fitted interior with leather covered gaming board for playing chess, draughts, backgammon and steeplechase concealed in the lid. Full boxwood and ebony chess set sat on pegs in the doors, draughts, dominoes and cribbage pieces to the top layer. The top tray of games lifting out to reveal a lower level ...tray with sets of cards and gaming markers. The base section with divisions to hold the original dice shakers, lead horses for steeplechase, counters etc. Box complete with working lock and key. Presented in immaculate original and complete condition with a rich polish to the case and ready to use! Box measures 13" wide x 8.5" deep x 7" high. Stock number 39301.
