A superb quality and stylish William IV period large proportion capstan inkwell, hallmarked London 1830. The Circular form heavy quality solid silver base with the sides curving inwards and with reeded decoration, fine reeding to the foot and rim. Broad hinged lid to the top with engraved Phoenix family crest set to the centre. Opens to reveal a broad internal rim with hole to the centre for accessing the ink. Cut crystal removeable internal well with star cut base. Screw release securing strap to the base that releases the ink well. Bears the maker for London silversmith George Reid. Superb q...uality and presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine. Measures 4.25" diameter at the base x 2" high. Stock number 38288.
