A fine quality and unusual George V period solid silver and crystal stamp box and moistener combination, hallmarked London 1912. The cut crystal base has chamfered edges; polished and scratch free. The stamp box's silver top has a hinged lid, which includes a small shaped flange to the front edge to aid opening, plus a deep rim, which returns over the top edges of the crystal base. The lid opens to reveal a two section interior to hold stamps. The moistener section with matching deep silver rim, which also returns over the upper ed...ge of the crystal base, and a well to the top to hold the sponge for moistening the stamps. Bears the makers mark for London silversmiths Stuart Clifford & Co, specialists in this kind of item. Presented in immaculate condition. Measures 2.5" wide x 3.5" deep x 1" high. Stock number 43246.
