A top quality late Victorian figured mahogany 8 day mantle clock with gong striking and brass stringing to the case, fully serviced and working c.1890. The arched top case with turret to the top and brass finial above and matching finials either side of the arch. Reeded quarter columns with brass mounts either side of the case and moulded plinth to the base with small brass bun feet below. The front of the case strung and inlaid with brass. Convex porcelain dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands sat behind a matching convex glass set in a polished hinged brass bezel. The 8 day ...French movement with anchor escapement and gong striking on the hour and half hour. Presented in excellent condition with a rich polish to the case, the movement fully overhauled and working. Measures 8" wide x 5" deep x 13" high. Stock number 41335.
