A superb Victorian polished oak banjo barometer and thermometer with porcelain dial in full working order c.1885. Leaf carved decoration to the solid oak case with flower crest to the top, turned mount to the dial and a smaller crest at the base to complement the top. Aneriod movement sat behind a porcelain dial with ornate script and coloured lettering to the weather predictions, which are sat around the dial edge; bears the retailers name Bateman, Reading. Polished brass bezel with thick bevelled edge glass to the viewing window and centre reading marker sat ...over the top. The original mercury action thermometer with matching porcelain scale to the barometer dial. Presented in immaculate condition with superb colour and patina to the case; fully serviced and working. Measures 34.5" long x 10.5" maximum width x 2.5" deep. Stock number 42256.
