A superior quality Victorian oak rope twist design aneroid barometer by Watson of Holborn, London c.1880. The turned solid English oak case with carved rope twist design border. Aneroid movement sat behind a porcelain dial with weather predictions sat around the outer edge and crescent thermometer set to the lower half. Bevelled edge glass viewing window with central reading marker, mounted in a nickel plated brass bezel. William Watson was recorded as an optician and barometer maker at 313, High Holborn between 1873 and 1881. This instrument presented in superb condition, fully servic...ed and working. Measures 8.5" diameter with 6" diameter dial x 2" maximum depth. Stock number 42006.
