A Victorian polished oak banjo barometer made by Gray & Selby of Nottingham c.1885. The elegant proportioned solid oak case with carved decoration to the shaped top and a rich patina. The circular porcelain dial bearing the maker's name and weather predictions, set behind a bevelled edge glass mounted in a polished brass bezel with central reading marker. Matching porcelain scale to the original mercury action thermometer sat to the top half of the case.
