Wonderful 16th Century Oak Coffer
A wonderfully original 16th century six plank boarded oak coffer with original hand forged hinges and lock plate with clasp c.1580. Constructed in hand sawn oak, with hinged lid, moulding to the edge and original hand forged iron strap hinges to the surface. Simple moulded line decoration to the front panel with original lock plate and matching clasp. The single plank sides with moulded line decoration and simple inverted v to the base of each side forming the foot. The lid opening to reveal a clean interior. Superb original colour and amazing original patina to the timber and extending to ...the iron fittings. Presented in superb original condition. Measures 40" long x 15.75" deep x 23" high.
